Multiplatform games are supposed to look identical on both platforms, but that raises the question then, why don't they?
If, as you say, developers are aiming for platform parity and then end up with one version looking or performing better than the other, doesn't that say something about the consoles? Especially if there is a large overarching pattern?
The other hole in this line of reasoning is that multiplatform games were not equal last generation between the ...
I love my hacked PSP and I don't feel the need to buy a PSP Go, but I am sure this will be a great choice for some people.
@Dragun619
"Also, Those that say Multiplatform games look better on this or that console should shut up, There're bloody multiplatform games, there meant to look nearly or are identical as they can be on all platforms. If you want to tout who has the superior console, then you use Exclusives not Multiplatform games."
This line of reasoning has been shown to be wrong over and over again, but people keep going back to it. Exclusives are not a reliable indicator of ...
360 version works fine.
No, you guys are misunderstanding what I said. I think that DVD is sufficient for the vast majority of games this generation. This is proven by the extremely small percentage of games that actually require more than the 9GBs that DVD provides. Furthermore, I simply stated that for the small number of games that do push over the 9GB limit, I really don't think it is a big deal to have to switch discs at some point through the game.
None of what I wrote above means that CD is su...
It won't look as good as Blu-ray, but it doesn't need to look as good as Blu-ray to be useful. When some people say they can't tell much of a difference between DVD and Blu-ray (not me, mind you) I think many people will be perfectly happy with this.
Even us videophiles will enjoy this. The convenience makes up for its somewhat technically inferior image quality. Hell, I use the Netflix service as it is and this looks far better than that.
Halo 3 is hardly "one of the worst looking exclusives out there". It looks better than Resistance, for example, and really does a lot of great things that some people seem to be unaware of.
It has great HDR lighting, above average textures, big levels, fantastic AI, great physics, 4 player split-screen co-op (Killzone 2 couldn't even manage 2 player split-screen) and is loaded to the gills with features and content.
The fact that it runs at a sub-HD reso...
The physical capacity of DVD is really not an issue. Most games don't require more.
@nathan123
MGS4 was sub-HD as well and that doesn't stop PS3 fanboys from proclaiming it to be some kind of graphical marvel.
The fact is, Halo 3 looks damn good considering what it does. Its large dynamic and open environments and 4 player split screen campaign co-op still haven't been matched by other shooters. It also has great HDR lighting. And we're talking true HDR lighting, not those simplistic blooming effects you see in some other games. You simply do no...
It will be nice to finally see an engine written specifically for the 360, utilizing its strengths and unique design, which will allow for the creation of noticeably better looking games.
So far all we have seen are essentially multiplatform engines on the 360, while the PS3 has had several engines specifically designed to its strengths.
Even though the 360 generally performs better on most multiplatform games, I guess Microsoft have realized that they are going to n...
Yes, exactly like Resident Evil 5, which was hands down better on the 360. Honestly, have you compared them yourself? I have.
What strange reasoning. Why do you assume that because a person is a fan of the 360 that they haven't owned a PS1 or PS2, or that they don't own a PS3?
MGS4 could have been done on the 360 no problem. Nothing about it indicates otherwise. The textures were average; the lighting engine was good but nothing that hasn't been done elsewhere; the environments were not any more detailed or geometry-heavy than many other modern games; the anti-aliasing could have been better, especially on shadow maps; and the whole game ran at a sub-HD resolution. It absolutely baffles me that some PS3 fans think it couldn't be done on the 360.

@beavis
The MGS4 engine was specifically made to run on the PS3 so of course it isn't going to work well on the 360. Same thing would happen if you tried to move a 360-specific engine over to the PS3. By creating a new engine they can make an even better looking game and that is exactly what they are promising they will do.
MGS4 looks good, but it isn't all that special anyway. 360 could easily run that game if the engine was rewritten to work well with the 360.
If you bought into Sony's marketing hype about the PS3 being the most powerful then you got duped, just like a lot of people out there. The reality is that the two consoles are approximately equal in performance. The 360 actually has the edge in some very important areas.
If you think those games you listed aren't possible on the 360 you simply don't know what you are talking about.
PS3 games are no less prone to glitches. In fact, if you are talking about most mu...
If you think Halo 3 looks like an Xbox 1 game you should just quit playing videogames. Your eyesight is probably so bad you can't see what you are doing anyway. Or is it the PS3 fanboy goggles messing up your sight?
Halo 3 isn't the best looking shooter, but it looks better than Resistance and is one of the most fun and well-balanced shooters around.
Blu-ray is great for movies, but it isn't that important for games this generation. Most games can fit on a standard DVD. Even games that do use more space on a Blu-ray disc could often fit on a DVD if more effort was taken to arrange the data in an efficient way on the disc. So far the games I play on the PS3 don't seem any bigger than the games I play on the 360. When all is said and done though, even if a game has to use multiple discs, who cares? I know I don't.
"Quality" is subjective. Ask a PS3 fanboy and he will tell you that all PS3 exclusives are the best games ever made, but does the rest of the world think so? Hell no. Nobody agrees on what games are "quality". Just as an example, look at all the PS3 fanboys in this article putting down Halo 3, yet for many of us it is one of the best shooters available.
God of War is a good action franchise, but it really didn't sell all that well considering how many mill...
Interesting, it's Killzone 2 that I find pretty 'meh'. It's ok if I play it in small doses, but I honestly get bored after playing it for a while. Halo 3 is a much better designed game in nearly every way. You're probably just a kid who is easily impressed by the effects-laden graphics in Killzone 2. If you were actually more tuned to what makes a good game--gameplay--then you would probably realize that Killzone 2 is a step down from Halo 3.
Multiplatform games do not necessarily show "what each console is capable of" and I never said that they do. What I am talking about is comparing the relative peak performance of the two consoles. And as I said, you can't do this with exclusives because it isn't a like for like comparison.
The only thing exclusives tell you is that THAT game can be done on THAT console. It doesn't tell you whether that game could be done on the other console. It also doesn't tell us...
